Scripture Union Daily Guide 6th February 2026 — Outline
Observe the desperate situations of the two main characters in the passage and the way they responded to their situations (Luke 8:41-42,43-44). We all face similar life challenges – sickness, accident, loss of job, economic hardship, failure in academics and business, etc. What lesson can we learn from them on what to do in our moments of desperation and hopelessness?
Sometimes our situations look hopeless like that of the woman with the issue of blood (Luke 8:43; Mark 5:26) and beyond remedy like that of Jairus’ daughter (Luke 8:49). We should never allow such situations to cause us despair. Luke 8:50 tells us what to do at such moments.
In Luke 8:45-47, Jesus reached out to the woman with the issue of blood (a person whom others avoided so they are not made unclean) and He gave her personal attention (See Leviticus 15:19-33). What does this teach us about our attitude to those who are rejected, stigmatized and against whom our society discriminates because of their conditions or peculiarities?
Read Luke 8:44,54-55. What assurance can we derive from these stories that there is no hopeless case with our Lord?
Food for Thought
Jesus knows and cares and is, “able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Ephesians 3:20). Praise Him.
